Join us St. Paddy’s Day weekend at famed Sailfish Marina [Palm Beach, FL] for a sport fishing extravaganza featuring Irish rock bands, St. Paddy’s Day parties, and offshore tournament during FLA’s prime season for gamefish. There’s no better time in SoFLO to target kingfish, dolphin, wahoo, tuna, & cobia – and what better way to do so than with green beer, rock music, & some fun on the water!
Fishing is scheduled for 1 day – Saturday, March 14, 2020. International Game Fish Association (IGFA) rules shall apply to this Pelagic Shamrock Shootout (PSS), except where they are inconsistent with the special Pelagic Shamrock Shootout rules listed below, in which case Pelagic Shamrock Shootout rules shall apply. It is the responsibility of each angler to be familiar with these PSS rules and IGFA rules:
All registered anglers must also comply with and abide by all applicable United States Federal and State of Florida laws regarding fishing licenses, size limits, bag limits, species seasons, tackle restrictions, speed limits, etc. Any infractions of the applicable rules will disqualify the angler(s) and boat/team from the entire tournament, and any disqualified anglers will not be entitled to any refund. The PSS Tournament Board reserves the right to change and/or amend any of the following rules at any time and notify participants of any such changes no later than the Captain’s Meeting on March 13, 2020. The Pelagic Shamrock Shootout reserves the right to polygraph any anglers or team members at any time, including after each day of fishing. All anglers and team members fishing the PSS agree to submit to said polygraph if asked. Link to IGFA Angling Rules:
No checkout is required; however, boats may not leave the inlet prior to 6:30 am on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Boundary to the North is: St. Lucie Inlet in Stuart, Florida [27.1489 / N 80.1373 W]; and to the South is: Commercial Blvd Pier in Fort Lauderdale, Florida [26.122 N / 80.137 W]. All boats must leave and return from Lake Worth Inlet, Palm Beach.
Only registered anglers, teams, & boats may fish the PSS. Team entry fee includes eight anglers. Additional anglers may be purchased for $200.00 each with no limit. Boat and angler substitutions must be made with the approval from PSS before 7:30 am, the start of official fishing time on Saturday, March 14, 2020. This event is open to all vessels. This is a fun team event, anglers and crew can hook and pass the rod to any angler. Once the rod is passed, that one angler must fight the fish to the boat without assistance.
Live bait, dead bait, and artificial lures are permitted. The only chumming permitted is with ground chum or dead chunk bait. NO LIVE BAIT CHUMMING. The use of live bait daisy chains and live bait chumming is prohibited. 80-pound test line is the maximum manufacturers stated pound test line that can be fished. Braided lines, wire lines, long shock leaders, and planers are allowed. Treble Hooks are not permitted. No harpoons or electric reels. Electric reels can be used for flying kites and for down riggers.
Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm.
Wahoo, Dolphin, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Cobia, & Blackfin Tuna are the eligible species for this PSS tournament. There is a 10.0-pound minimum weight requirement for each eligible species. While yellowfin tuna is not included in the general entry or jackpot categories, a special prize will be given to the team that weighs in the heaviest yellowfin tuna.
The weigh station will be open at Sailfish Marina from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Teams/Boats can weigh up to four (4) of each eligible Wahoo, Dolphin, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Cobia, & Blackfin Tuna with a total of eight (8) fish eligible to be weighed per team.
Scoring is based on one point per pound to the tenth of a pound (i.e. 17.2 lbs.) with a minimum qualifying weight of 10-pounds per fish. The overall tournament grand champion will be determined by the heaviest cumulative weight total of up to eight (8) fish with a four (4) fish per species maximum. The Pelagic Shamrock Shootout awards the top five (5) teams with the heaviest cumulative weight total of up to eight (8) fish during the one-day tournament. Optional daily jackpots for species, as well as value-added categories are available.
At least one angler from each team/boat must complete and sign the entire entry form as the authorized agent of all registered anglers on the team/boat and represent that every angler has read, understands and agrees to all Pelagic Shamrock Shootout rules & liability documents. At least one member from each team must attend the captain’s meeting at roughly 6:00pm on Friday, March 13, 2020, at Sailfish Marina on Singer Island, Palm Beach, Florida.
Any protests must be made in writing and presented to the PSS Tournament Committee NO LATER than 6:00pm on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Protests will be ruled on by tournament director(s) and supporting staff; tournament director’s decision is final. Any verbal/physical abuse or threats made to tournament staff is grounds for team disqualification without refund.
Please expect a 30 to 60-day processing period to receive any cash winnings earned during the 2020 Pelagic Shamrock Shootout; winnings are subject to being taxed (1099); form W9 to be completed by all winning participants accepting cash prizes; wire transfers are subject to a processing fee.
TOURNAMENT GENERAL ENTRY: $700 [MANDATORY]
OVERALL TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP = cumulative weight total of up to 8 fish
NOTE: It’s unlikely, however, if no qualifying fish are scored throughout the tournament, entry monies (minus a $200 tournament administration fee) will be redistributed by check in the mail, or via wire transfer.

Gamefish Tie Breakers/Rollovers: In the event of a tie in any of the optional jackpot categories, monies will be split evenly between the teams with the tied weight. In the unlikely event that no qualifying fish are scored by any teams entered in a jackpot category, the monies will be paid back to each team entered in that jackpot category, minus 20% for tournament administration.
